Mononoke's Mask

Princess Mononoke was one of my favourite movies growing up - I would watch in on repeat! I fell in love with the storyline and the beautiful artwork, and I remember drawing the characters over and over.

I decided for my next piece, that I would like to attempt some fan art - the plan is to create the whole character one day, but for now i'm starting with the mask!

One of the funnest things about this project was the fur - I learnt Houdini fur for the first time and absolutely loved what it could do. There is still a lot to learn to get it looking better in my opinion, but for my first attempt I'm really happy!

I used substance designer to create the wood material, then brought it into substance painter for the finer details and colour.
