Really excited to finally be able to share this piece! Its been a personal project of mine for a while.

The aim of this piece was to learn to really go back and appreciate the old school way of texturing by hand using Mari. In the age of procedural texturing I sometimes feel this craft is getting lost. And what better way to really challenge myself than with a body full of scales? Each one was individually placed and hand painted using Mari, before bringing it into Zbrush to use as an alpha for painting. After the sculpt, this was brought back in to mari to paint the actual colour and roughness maps. This was an especially challenging piece, and I definitely could continue colouring this guy forever!
